Below are important questions to ask yourself before beginning your search. These questions are intended as to help you recall vital information as you begin your search for your lost pet.
- Do I have any recent pictures of my pet?
- What breed is my pet?
- What breed does she look like?
- What breed/color would she look like un-groomed or un-bathed.
- Was my pet wearing any form of identification?
(Microchip, rabies tag, license.)
- Is the information current?
- ID can also be distinguishing color markings or an unusual collar. Any type of recognizable characteristic can be a form of ID.
- Is my dog neutered/spayed? (Unaltered dogs will wander further.)
Has my pet escaped before?
- Where did I find her last time?
- When did I last see my pet?
(Daylight? Dawn? Dusk? Night?)
- Could she be locked in garage? In a car?
- Were there any events that could be associated with my pet's disappearance?
- Did you hear barking earlier? Yelling? Honking?
- Could your pet have mistaking entered into a movers van, an open garage…etc?
- Are there any daily/weekly/monthly events (newspaper delivery, garbage pickup, school bus, pool service) that could provide insight to my pet's disappearance?
- Could she be in a neighbor's backyard playing with another pet?
- Does she have a favorite place she likes to play/hide?
